Peter Max spent the first 9 years of his life living in China and 1 year in Tibet. His family lived throughout the world, after China they moved to Africa, then to Israel, then all throughout Europe, and finally settled in the states.
Max studied at the Art Students League, Pratt Institute, and the School of Visual Arts in New York.
After his studies he started his own design studio. Whiting several years he won more than sixty-five awards for product, fashion, food, book, and poster designs. In 1964 he closed the studio. Max closed his studio to go on a "creative retreat" it was from there he started to make his colorful psychedelic silk screens which are really what he is known for.
His works appear in many museums, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
This BLOG will mainly focus on Peter Max's illustrative graphic commercial work and Product designs. Max's art work was a big part of the psychedelic movement in illustrative and graphic design. His style of illustration was an inspiration for commercial designer in the late 1960s and 1970s.

In New York at The Student's League, Max learned the techniques and the disciplines of realism and soon became a realist painter. When he left school that is when he started to gain interest in commercial illustration. He started to design and illustrate album covers and many more things.
